Hyperlink Tuesday

I will try to fix my slight obsession with Yahoo(!) Answers. Arcade Fire released this really cool interactive music video (it involves your home address, don't be so paranoid..). I always go back to this website and scroll through it. Yes, I do read pointless things which aren't pointless. Yeah, okay, I do.

rocky raccoon

Now somewhere in the black mining hills of Dakota
There lived a young boy named Rocky Raccoon
And one day his woman ran off with another guy
Hit young Rocky in the eye Rocky didn't like that
He said I'm gonna get that boy
So one day he walked into town
Booked himself a room in the local saloon.

Rocky Raccoon checked into his room
Only to find Gideon's bible
Rocky had come equipped with a gun
To shoot off the legs of his rival
His rival it seems had broken his dreams
By stealing the girl of his fancy.
Her name was Magil and she called herself Lil
But everyone knew her as Nancy.
Now she and her man who called himself Dan
Were in the next room at the hoedown
Rocky burst in and grinning a grin
He said Danny boy this is a showdown
But Daniel was hot-he drew first and shot
And Rocky collapsed in the corner.

The doctor came in stinking of gin
And proceeded to lie on the table
He said Rocky you met your match
And Rocky said, Doc it's only a scratch
And I'll be better I'll be better doc as soon as I am able.

Now Rocky Raccoon he fell back in his room
Only to find Gideon's bible
Gideon checked out and he left it no doubt
To help with good Rocky's revival.

paper planes

okay, if anyone is interested, this paper plane flys (flies?) very straight and far - it won my science investigation out of 5 different paper planes
it's really hard to make though - i had to watch the video

anyway, ummmmmm. i love rowing. and i love brigitte. and i love getting new music (not new but new for me). and i love jack johnson and my guitar. and i love not going to lecture. and i love water. and food. and i love daffodils (i'm sure i've told you that already). for my birthday i'd love a bunch of daffodils, or even better a flowerpot full of them so they'll live longer.
OH OH what if i had a daffodil party?
it would be amazing, everyone would wear a daffodil (real or fake) in their hair and a pretty flowery dress, and i would have daffodils everywhere and a daffodil themed honey cake. and everything would be yellow even though i look horrible in yellow but that's okay - i'd wear a white dress with yellow accessories. and those daffodil pins you buy on daffodil day. and we could all give some money to the cancer council.
i wonder if you can eat daffodils.

:)

funniest thing today was:
seeing two people walking in sync
it really brightened my day

brigitte, i had a dream about you.
and what is project 42?

Six Week Adventure

Tomorrow is the beginnings of something called project 42. Details are on my tumblr. It took a lot of thinking, to decide whether I'd cheat with blog 365 and just participate in the project on this page - replacing my daily posts with the project. Alas, I chose to return to tumblr (for the third time) and do p42 over there. You can follow its small beginnings if you want. This is not some form of twisted reverse psychology, maybe it is.

1) Inside My Head
2) Bullet Proof - I Wish I Was
3) Punchdrunk Lovesick Singalong
4) Last Flowers to the Hospital
5) The Tourist
6) Stop Whispering

Six weeks will probably fly by,
Joy - we're posting so early these days.

/sleep

I'm going to bed now.

Goodnight.

right now

i am sitting at school, at a table with some chairs around it in the middle of the hallway
i can hear a radio but i don't know where it's coming from
nobody has walked past me this entire time
there's a door down there which is half open and i feel like someone's going to walk through any minute now, it's quite freaky
and i don't even have homework to do

so, 30 minutes till my parents get here for interviews then another hour till i can go home..... :(

wind

Okay, look at this post title.
How do you read it?
How do you pronounce it?

I just realized the other day that wind (wind it up) and wind (wind in the willows) are spelt the same!

Ok that's it for today, hope you enjoyed :)

Instantaneous Snack

So, I had these interesting looking instant noodles (new-dels, noo-dels) today [right now]. Apparently my mum got them for free when she bought something else.

"Where does the lovely aroma come from?" - I really hope that it's from the noodles.

Well, it came with a sachet of powder stuff, and this really odd looking ginger stuff. I just stuck with the powder. It tasted a bit like mushroom, and very vegetarian.

Eating noodles with glasses isn't very fun. It fogs up and I just get really lost when I'm trying to do the turning-fork-maneuver around these too-short noodles

why do people think fame is so special?

I feel like I should be posting something important, because my posts are getting worse and worse
All I can actually write about right now is Tony Abbott
So I think he's a great guy and I hope he gets to be prime minister. Even though I'd rather have some climate change stuff happening, I don't really care about his policies because I just don't want Julia Gillard to win.
And Tony Abbott has a wife and kids, and he's Christian, and I think what we really need is a nice traditional man like him to be prime minister because I think things need to go back to the old times.
He also does triathlons and exercises every morning which is really inspirational.

United States, Burma & Liberia

Initially, it's an intriguing question - then after that, you kind of feel stupid for thinking so. Well, in the first place - a universal system was made (in this case, the metric system) where one millimetre was this much, and so on. The question is how this system was spread. Did some random guy go up to random guy #2 and go:

Random guy #1 - "Hey, there's this system I made for measuring. This is one centimetre *offers a scrappy piece of wood*"
Random guy #2 - "Okay. I'll take this scrappy piece of wood to my village, pass it onto other villages so that we build up a multi-synergetic community of measuring systems."
Random guy #1: "Thanks. Bye."

They both ride off into the distance (or walked away in this case).

---

I guess that measurements are so ubiquitous that we use existing rulers to make other rulers. And on the software which is used to make the templates for rulers, there are already established programs with the system on that.

Everything is arbitrary.

complaining mood

sorry but i'd just like to point out some more things that i really hate!

- people who love how they look (but they're always the ones with edited profile pictures and i mean edited as in photoshopped to make themselves look better)
- people who use call friends SLUT or BITCH or LOSER or anything else
- people who post depressing statuses
- people who simply post fml as their status, it's even worse

OKAY THAT'S ALL i hope you are having a good weekend :)

blogs

I don't know if you would call this a rant, but anyway.
I get really annoyed at blogs which are just photos. It's okay if the photos are funny or if the blogger took them themselves or if they are interesting in some way. But when they are just some photo which nobody really cares about then I JUST DON'T GET IT.
But that's probably because I belong to that minority of fucked-up people who only look at people's blogs in order to stalk them or see if they write about me.

Asdfgah.

I'm pretty sure that I've had that title for a blog post before.
That's okay, I suppose - because there's no rules for this.
Blog 365 is a happy, thriving, unicornful, free environment.
We're all very happy, and rarely get angry at anything.
Yeah, that's right. We're happy. Doo dum de do...
My mum just rang my phone to say dinner time.
Technology is heavily overrated.
Goodnight and goodbye.
Weird day.

bitchy music teachers

Hi Mr Shade,

unfortunately I have decided to quit stage band. I did really enjoy it and I am still continuing with guitar but now with rowing and other commitments there is just no time.

Sorry to let you know so close to the Spring Concert, but I only just realised there was a time clash

Hello Joy,

I am very disappointed in your lack of commitment to the stage band, particularly less than 3 weeks before a major off campus concert. Perhaps you have not thought about the implications of your actions on the other members of the band? Do you think it is a reasonable action to resign from the band at this time? I would be very interested to hear your opinion.

Unless I receive a written request from your parents stating why you should be allowed to resign from the band less than 3 weeks before a very important concert, I expect you to attend the rehearsals and the concert on 6 September and then you will be permitted to leave the band, after the concert, if you still wish to do so.

Regards,

Mr Hill

hmm

Hi Mr Shade and Mr Hill
Sorry to disappoint you both, but I am very commited to rowing and I can't miss Wednesday morning training. Also, I catch a private bus to school and my parents leave early so there is no way I could get to the Thursday or Friday morning rehearsals for mass singing.
I think the band is fine without me, seeing as I haven't been to rehearsals all term.
holy fuck i just sent that email by accident - i was meant to save it
after learning about cyber safety today
that sucks
do you think its too bitchy? :|

I'm A Condescending Grammar Snob

I am a grammar snob who is bad with grammar - but I choose to penalise other people because it makes me feel good about myself. I'm growing into David Thorne with these emails, I don't know whether that is a good or bad thing. Note that I had to size down the obnoxiously big font which goes by the name of brad.

Hello,

I'm vegetarian and I was wondering whether you are offering any tofu options as I'm quite glad to support this term's giving focus.

Thanks,
Brigitte

Sorry no

things we forget

(just a little side note here: i keep forgetting what i've blogged about and what i haven't, and that's where the search box comes in handy) :)

well anyway here are some nice quotes because i can't be bothered uploading pictures but if you want to see the website it is http://thingsweforget.blogspot.com/

-never look down on somebody unless you're helping him up

-plant in spring so you can harvest in autumn

-be somebody's hero

-come back stronger

-use less of the planet

-always be a little kinder than necessary
